In the very first place, you must cautiously unbox your Printer for performing the Canon Setup process. Then, clear the Printer from all the packaging material.
Now, remove all the plastic tapes from all parts of the Printer without causing any damage to it.
After that, properly install the Ink Cartridges and Paper Tray. Then, load the Paper Tray with a stack of specified Paper Sheets.
Next, you should place the Printer at a flat, stable surface to perform the Canon Setup process. Besides that, ensure that it is within your Router’s Signal Range.
Thereafter, connect it to a stable Power Source such as a Wall Socket. For this, use its Power Cord. Then, switch it on. After that, turn on the Printer. For this, press its Power button. As a result, its “Power Lamp” must be properly lit and stable.
Along with that, turn on your Router and ensure it is functioning properly.
Subsequently, turn on your Windows Device. Then, connect it to a high-speed Internet Network. At the same time, ensure that it is the same Network that you will use for Canon Setup.
Now, insert the “Installation CD” in your Computer’s Disk Drive. Then, click “Run” on the following Autorun window. However, if it doesn’t open up automatically. Then, remove and reinsert the CD. After that, go to the system’s CD-Drive under “My Computer”. Thereafter, open the Setup File by double-clicking on it.
Consequently, Canon Setup will open the initial “Printer Setup” window. Hence, click “Next” to proceed further.
Thereafter, it will take you to the “Connection Method Selection” window. Here, you should click on “Network Connection” for Canon Setup.
After that, click “Wireless Connection” on the following window.
Subsequently, it will prompt you to turn on your Printer. Hence, ensure the same by checking its “Power Lamp”. It must be stable and lit. However, if it is not lit. Then, press its “Power”/ “ON” button.
Now, click “Next”.
Next, a “Printer Setup” window will appear. Here, you should click on the “Connect To The Network” button.
After that, you will get the “Setup Procedure Selection” window. Here, you will get the options for “WPS” and “Cableless Setup”. The “WPS” method works only if your Router supports “WPS” with a push-button. On the contrary, all standard Routers can connect with the “Cableless Setup” method. However, your choice will also depend upon the time taken by both the methods. “Cableless Setup” method is longer than the “WPS” option of Canon Setup. In addition to that, it will disable your Internet Connection temporarily. Moreover, it doesn’t work for computers with Windows XP OS.
As such, select the “Cableless Setup” connection and go to your Printer’s Control Panel. Now, press and hold the WiFi button till its “Power Lamp” flashes twice. Then, release it.
On the following Installation Wizard, click “Next” if you have completed the last step accurately. Alternatively, perform the last step once more by clicking on the “Start Again” tab.
Consequently, you will notice the Printer’s blue “WiFi Lamp” starts flashing. However, its “Power Lamp” is lit and stable. Hence, click “Next” if that is the case.
Thereafter, Canon Setup process will begin. It will also disable your Internet Connection for a few minutes. Hence, wait for the process to complete.
On the next window, appropriately “Select Your Place of Residence”. Then, click “Next”.
After that, choose your Country appropriately and click “Next”.
Subsequently, you will get a list of available software for Canon Setup. As such, appropriately select the software for installation. Although, it is recommended to click on “Select All” and install all the software.
After this, it will inform you about the “disk space” required for Canon Setup. Therefore, notice the same to ensure sufficient space on your system’s “Hard Disk”. Then, click “Next”.
As a result, it will take you to the “License Agreement” window. Now, carefully read the entire document. Then, click “Yes” to proceed further.
On the following Firewall Settings window, click “Next”.
Consequently, it will detect your Canon Printer on the Network and connect to it. However, it may prompt you to “Check Printer Settings” in case if it cannot detect the Printer. As such, establish the connection by clicking on the “Redetect” button. It is quite possible that you may be required to repeat the process for multiple times on account of your network configurations. However, if the Canon Setup continues to fail. Then, check your Printer’s “Network Settings” by performing a Test Print to ensure that it is connected to the correct Network. You may be required to perform this process from the very start.
Finally, the “Setup Completion” window will appear showcasing your printer’s “Model Number” and “Network’s SSID (Name)”. Hence, check the details and confirm it is correct. Thereafter, click “Complete”.
On the “Print Head Alignment Recommended” window, click “Next”.
After that, click “Next” on the “Setup Complete” window.
As a result, it will suggest you for “User Registration”. Therefore, click “Next”. Then, complete the registration process by following on-screen instructions. Else, click “Cancel” if you want to register later.
Now, you will get the “Extended Survey Program” on the next window. As such, closely review the details. Then, click “Agree” or “Disagree” according to your choice.
At last, close the Canon Setup Wizard by clicking on the “Exit” tab.
Standard Setup for Mac
To begin with, prepare your Canon Printer by performing the Hardware Setup procedure as explained above for Windows Setup.
Then, power up both the Printer and the Computer. Along with that, connect your Computer to the Network with which you want to configure your Printer.
Now, insert the Installation CD in your Mac’s CD Drive or download the latest Drivers from Canon’s official Setup Website.
Next, you should click on the “Run” tab on the following pop-up box. However, in the case of online download, double-click the downloaded Setup file to get this Security Prompt.
As a result, you will get the Welcome window of the Installer. Hence, click “Next”.
Thereafter, accurately type in your “Mac Administrator User ID and Password” when prompted.
After that, click “Next”.
On the following window, select “Network Connection”.
Subsequently, select “Wireless Connection” on the next window for Canon Setup.
In order to proceed further with Canon Setup, ensure that the Printer is turned on. Then, click “Next”.
On the following pop-up box, click “Open”.
Then, click the “Connect To The Network” tab.
Thereafter, click “Cableless Setup” for Canon Setup.
Subsequently, follow on-screen instructions and enable “Cableless Setup” on your Canon Printer.
Now, click “Allow” to permit the Canon Setup.
On the following window, appropriately select “Your Region”. Then, click “Next”.
Thereafter, you should select software appropriately from the following list of available applications. Else, simply click on “Select All”. Then, click “Next”.
Next, you will get the “License Agreement” window. Here, you must carefully read the terms and click “Yes”.
Consequently, it will begin downloading and installing the software.
Subsequently, follow on-screen prompts to complete the “Add Printer”, “Print Head Alignment Recommended”, “User Registration”, and “Extended Survey Program” procedures.
